Gentle, carefully explained tooth removal with a calm, patient-first approach. Comfort and clear communication at every stage.
A tooth extraction is sometimes necessary when a tooth can't be restored or is causing ongoing problems. We understand that the idea of having a tooth removed can feel daunting, particularly if you're nervous. At Harley Private, extractions are approached with care, clear communication and a focus on your comfort at every stage.
Our priority is that you feel informed, supported and at ease before, during and after treatment. Extractions are never recommended lightly, and wherever possible we explore alternatives first.
A tooth extraction is the careful removal of a tooth from the jaw. It may be recommended when a tooth is damaged, infected or no longer able to support your oral health.
Extractions are carried out gently and methodically, with steps taken to minimise discomfort and support proper healing. The procedure is usually quicker and more comfortable than many patients expect.
It's completely normal to feel anxious about having a tooth out. Tell us how you're feeling, and we'll go at your pace.
Reflections from people who have visited our clinic and shared their experience.
Knowing what will happen takes much of the worry out of an extraction. Here's what to expect.
An assessment and discussion. Your dentist examines the tooth, reviews your x-rays and explains why extraction is recommended, and what the alternatives are. Where clinically required, we may use a panoramic x-ray (OPG) or a 3D scan (CBCT), particularly for wisdom teeth and surgical cases.
Your medical history. We'll ask about your general health and any medication you take, including blood thinners, so treatment is planned safely.
Thorough numbing. Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area thoroughly before we begin. You'll feel pressure but shouldn't feel pain, and you can tell us at any point if you need a pause.
Careful removal. The tooth is removed using controlled techniques, taking care to protect the surrounding bone and gum.
Clear aftercare. Once complete, we explain how to look after the area and what to expect while it heals. You'll leave with written guidance and our contact details.
Planning what comes next. If you'd like to replace the tooth, we'll talk through your options once healing has taken place.

We offer finance options through Chrysalis Finance to help make treatment costs more manageable. This allows eligible patients to spread the cost of treatment over time with clear, structured repayments. 0% finance is available on 12-month plans, and longer terms are available at a representative 14.9% APR, subject to status and approval.
Our finance calculator provides an indicative example of how treatment costs may be spread into monthly payments based on a 14.9% APR. Simply enter the estimated treatment cost and select a repayment term to view a guide price. Figures shown are for illustration only. Final repayment amounts will be confirmed following consultation and finance approval.
Using the calculator does not commit you to treatment or finance. It is designed to help you understand your options clearly, without pressure. Full details, including repayment terms and eligibility, will always be explained before you proceed.

A consultation gives us time to understand your needs, assess your tooth, explore alternatives and explain your options clearly, so you feel comfortable and informed before making any decisions. If you're in pain, you can book an emergency appointment (£110).
Every tooth is different. This is how the two options compare, and your dentist will talk you through which suits yours. We only recommend removal when it’s the best option for your oral health, and we’ll always explain the alternatives first.
Practical guidance to help you understand our care, treatments and what to expect.
Tooth extractions at Harley Private start from £220, and surgical extractions, including wisdom teeth, from £330. We confirm your fee before treatment begins.
The procedure itself is usually comfortable thanks to local anaesthetic. Some mild discomfort afterwards is normal and can usually be managed with recommended pain relief.
Yes. We regularly care for nervous patients and take a calm, supportive approach. We'll explain everything clearly and work at a pace that helps you feel at ease.
Initial healing usually takes a few days, with full healing taking longer depending on the tooth and individual factors. We'll explain what to expect and when you can resume normal activities.
You may be advised to avoid smoking, alcohol, strenuous activity and certain foods for a short period. Clear aftercare instructions will be provided before you leave.
Dry socket can occur when the blood clot in the extraction site is lost before the area has healed, causing a dull, throbbing pain a few days afterwards. Smoking and vigorous rinsing raise the risk. If you think you have it, contact us and we'll treat it.
Many patients return to normal activities fairly soon, but it depends on the tooth and how complex the extraction was. Your dentist will advise, and may suggest resting for the rest of the day.
Surgical extractions, including wisdom teeth, start from £330. The final fee depends on the position of the tooth and how complex removal is.
