Ceramic dental crowns made bespoke to you

Custom-made, natural-looking crowns that protect and strengthen damaged teeth, restoring comfort, function and appearance.

Protection and strength for damaged teeth

A dental crown is a restorative treatment that protects, strengthens and restores a damaged or weakened tooth. It covers the visible part of the tooth, improving its shape, strength and appearance while helping to preserve the natural structure that remains.

At Harley Private, crowns are carefully planned and custom-made to fit comfortably, function properly and blend naturally with the surrounding teeth. Every crown starts with a careful assessment, so you only have the treatment your tooth needs.

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over an existing tooth. It restores the tooth's shape and strength while protecting it from further damage. Crowns are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, and are matched closely to your natural tooth colour.

Crowns may be made from materials such as porcelain, ceramic or other durable dental materials, depending on clinical requirements and aesthetic considerations.

Crowns are commonly used when a tooth has been weakened or damaged and can't be restored with a simple filling.

What your dental crown treatment includes

A crown is a precise, custom restoration, and getting the fit and appearance right takes careful planning. Here's what to expect.

‍A thorough assessment. Your dentist examines the tooth and surrounding gums, assesses your bite and, where clinically required, takes an x-ray. This confirms whether a crown is the right solution or whether a simpler option would do.

‍Comfort first. Local anaesthetic is used where required so the procedure is comfortable. Tell us at any point if you'd like to pause.

‍Preparing the tooth. The tooth is gently shaped to make room for the crown, and any decay is removed. We take care to preserve as much healthy tooth as possible.

‍A precise record of your tooth. We take impressions or digital scans so your crown can be designed to fit your tooth and your bite exactly.

‍Matching your shade. Your crown is matched to the colour and shape of your natural teeth, so it blends into your smile.

‍A temporary crown. A temporary crown may be placed to protect the tooth while your final crown is made.

‍Fitting your final crown. At your next visit, the crown is carefully fitted, adjusted for comfort and bite, and securely bonded in place.

‍Aftercare. You'll receive clear advice on caring for your crown and your next review.

‍Good to know:
‍
Crown treatment is usually completed over two appointments.
Mild sensitivity after treatment typically settles quickly.
Crowns don't change colour with whitening, so if you're planning whitening, we'll do it first so your crown can be matched to your final shade.

Affordable monthly payments with 0% finance

We offer finance options through Chrysalis Finance to help make treatment costs more manageable. This allows eligible patients to spread the cost of treatment over time with clear, structured repayments. 0% finance is available on 12-month plans, and longer terms are available at a representative 14.9% APR, subject to status and approval.

How the finance calculator works

Our finance calculator provides an indicative example of how treatment costs may be spread into monthly payments based on a 14.9% APR. Simply enter the estimated treatment cost and select a repayment term to view a guide price. Figures shown are for illustration only. Final repayment amounts will be confirmed following consultation and finance approval.

Using the calculator does not commit you to treatment or finance. It is designed to help you understand your options clearly, without pressure. Full details, including repayment terms and eligibility, will always be explained before you proceed.

Ceramic crowns at Harley Private start from £925. The final fee depends on the tooth and clinical requirements, and we confirm it before treatment begins.

How long does a dental crown take?

accordion dropdown icon

Crown treatment is usually completed over two appointments. At the first, your tooth is prepared and a temporary crown is placed. At the second, your final crown is fitted.

Is a dental crown right for me?

accordion dropdown icon

Crowns are one of several restorative options. A consultation lets us assess your tooth, explain the alternatives and recommend the most suitable treatment for you.

How long do dental crowns last?

accordion dropdown icon

With good oral hygiene and regular dental care, crowns can last many years. Longevity depends on individual factors such as bite forces and oral habits.

Will my crown look natural?

accordion dropdown icon

Crowns are custom-made to match the colour and shape of your natural teeth, so they blend seamlessly into your smile.

Will I need a crown after root canal treatment?

accordion dropdown icon

In many cases, especially on back teeth, a crown is recommended to protect the treated tooth and restore its strength. We'll discuss this during treatment planning.

What's the difference between a crown and a filling?

accordion dropdown icon

A filling repairs part of a tooth. A crown covers the whole visible tooth, so it's used when a tooth is too damaged or weakened for a filling alone.

What's the difference between a crown and a veneer?

A veneer covers only the front surface of a tooth and is mainly cosmetic. A crown covers the whole tooth and also protects and strengthens it.
